The durrrr challenge has been on the back burner for the last few weeks due to the WSOP. But it appears Tom Dwan has already set up a new challenge, this time to be played live in London. This September Tom Dwan will be playing a series of $500,000 heads up challenges against four different opponents.
The matches will be played over 500 hands and the opponents will have the choice of either pot-limit Omaha or no-limit holdem, with a buy -in of $500,000 and blinds of $500/$1000. The event will be produced by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport television production company.

Tom “durrrr” Dwan had managed to cut Patrik Antonius’s lead during the last challenge session, but last night he managed not just only to overturn the Finn’s lead, but to blast into an even bigger lead himself. The session lasted for an amazing fifteen hours and the pair managed to play over 4,500 hands and at the end of play Dwan had taken a lead of $726,000.
With a session like this there was always going to be a lot of big pots to be won, the largest of the session going to Antonius. Dwan got all his money in on the turn with a 6 over 9s full house, only to see it beaten by antonius’s Qs over 6s full and the Finn took the $477,556 pot. But even with that loss it did not stop Dwan retaking the lead of the challenge, as he managed to collect 7 of the 10 biggest pots of the session, giving him a $764,000 profit.
Seems that things are going Tom Dwan ’s way at the moment, not only has he managed to gain a big lead in the challenge, but he has also reduced the losses he suffered at the cash tables earlier in the year. Will he top this run of success off with a WSOP gold bracelet?.

After a short session earlier in the week, lasting only an hour in which they played 200 hands, Tom Dwan managed to pull back $36,000 from Patrik Antonius’s lead. But that was small change compared to the challenge session that was played out last night.
After being over $450K in profit, Patrik Antonius found his lead cut to just $36,594 as Tom Dwan stormed back during the 786 hands that were played. Dwan managed to profit to the tune of $376,000, winning all of the five biggest pots of the session. The largest pot of the night saw both players money in the middle on the turn, Antonius’s flush being the favourite over Dwan set of Jacks. The river paired the board giving Dwan a full house and the $230,000 pot.
So, after 16,000 hands being played, and the durrrr challenge is almost back to square one, it looks like there will be plenty of challenge action to come despite the distraction of the World Series Of Poker.

Despite the fact that the World Series Of Poker is well under way, the durrrr challenge is still carrying on. At the end of last week Patrik Antonius managed to extend his lead by another $23,000, which extended his lead to $447,684. They played less than 1000 hands during the session, making it over 15000 hands played so far.
Although Antonius came away with the profit, it was Dwan who managed to win two of the three biggest pots of the session, the largest being just over $200,000. With Patrik Antonius and Tom Dwan are only interested in the bigger tournaments at the WSOP,it looks like the durrrr challenge will continue during the tournaments duration.

Tuesday night saw the high stakes pot-limit Omaha action on Full Tilt Poker step up a gear as Tom Dwan not only played Patrik Antonius in another session of the durrrr challenge, but he also went heads-up against the likes of Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.
Patrik Antonius had the better of Dwan in the durrrr challenge session, stretching his lead by just over $32,000 during the 700 hands that the pair played. Tom Dwan managed to take the sessions biggest pot when the flop was 9s-4h-Jh, Dwan hit top pair and a straight draw holding Th-Jc-4s-Kc, but was behind to Antonius who had two pair with Jd-7d-As-9h. Everything changed on the turn when the Ks came, giving Dwan a better two pair. Antonius had no help on the river, so Dwan took the $153,226 pot.
Dwan had better luck against Phil Ivey, taking nearly $500K off him before they called a halt to the session. Gus Hansen proved stiffer opposition, despite Dwan building a early lead, the Dane staged a fightback and managed to finish the session over $350K up.
Then Dwan came up against Sahamies, playing $3,000/$9,000 PLO for around an hour. Sahamies took the biggest pot of the session winning $462,514 with the nut straight. There were six pots over $300K, but it was honours even as they won three apiece and finished the session both breaking even .
With the start of the WSOP only days away it looks like the durrrr challenge is going to be put on the back burner for a while, but hopefully we may see some more challenge action before the start of the WSOP extravaganza

In a short session of the durrrr challenge lasting just over 300 hands, Tom Dwan managed to start his fight back against Patrik Antonius’s $500K lead. Antonius started the session well winning a couple of big pots, including the second biggest pot of the session, but that was before Dwan got into his stride. First he managed to take down several pots over $50K, before the biggest pot of the session when Dwan’s trip 9’s won him $144,838.
This session helped Dwan reduce the finn’s lead by $100K, and there is still over 36,000 hands to be played in the challenge, but the pair’s hope of trying to complete the challenge before the start of the WSOP looks to be in jeopardy.

In a short durrrr challenge session lasting no longer than thirty minutes and playing 300 hands, Patrik Antonius took huge strides to take control of the challenge by extending his lead to nearly $500k.
Tom Dwan did not get off to the best of starts, losing $150,ooo in two early hands. His total loss for the session was $328,470 and the only thing that stopped it from being a bigger margin was that he took the biggest hand of the session, when his pocket Aces beat Antonius’s Kings and taking a $174,196 pot. But that did not stop Dwan having to reload on all four of the challenge tables they were using at Full Tilt Poker.
Antonius now leads the challenge by $488,133 having played just over 13,000 hands, out of the 50,000 they are aiming for. Before this session Antonius held the biggest lead that either player had held in the tournament and now the margin between the two is even bigger. You should never write Dwan off , but the way this year is going for him so far, he will have his work cut out to try and reel Antonius back in, but, stranger things have happened in the world of high stakes poker.

After a twelve day break, action resumed in the durrrr challenge with Patrik Antonius continuing where he left off and extending his lead over Tom Dwan. Antonius carried a $78,000 lead from the last session, and this time extended it by another $75,000, taking his total lead to $159,727, which is the biggest margin that either player has lead by so far.
Despite Antonius’s dominance it was Dwan who picked up the biggest pot of the session when he was holding Qh-Ts-9d-8c, only to come up against the Finn with Ad-As-Kc-Kh. With the pot raised to $108,000 before the flop of 9s-8s-7h, Dwan shoved all-in with his last $45,000, the Finn called but when the board was completed by 5s-9c, it was Dwan who collected the $198,961 pot. Even a pot of this size couldn’t help Dwan reign in Antonius who took five pots over $100,000.
So far the pair have played 12,956 of the 50,000 hands they are aiming to complete, which they were optimistically hoping to complete before the upcoming start of the WSOP next month.

Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius played a short session in the durrrr challenge last night, completing only 165 hands, but it was enough time for Antonius to extend his overall lead to $80,554. The biggest pot of the night went to the Finn, when both players were all in, with Dwan on two pair and Antonius on a straight draw. The turn gave Antonius the straight and the river failed to improve Dwan’s hand and so Antonius collected the $139,000 pot.
Away from the durrrr challenge tables, Patrik Antonius is still profiting in the high stakes games. His latest win saw him collect $500,000 from his fellow countrymen Ilari”Ziigmund”Sahamies and Sami”LarzLuzak”Kelopuro. So far this year Antonius is rumoured to be in profit to the tune of $4 million, so clearly is having a very good 2009 regardless of whether he wins Dwan’s $1.5 million.

Another session of the durrrr challenge took place on Saturday night and another 966 hands were played during the session. Dwan’s lead fom Good Friday did not last long as Patrik Antonius stormed back winning over $140k for the session and retake the overall chiplead.
Dwan’s night never really got going as he lost out on some big pots to the challenger. The biggest pot of the session, and the third biggest of the challenge so far, saw Antonius hit a a 4 to 8 straight on the river after he had called durrrr’s all in shove and collected a pot of $196,665. Antonius has now retaken the lead by $61,412.
Away from the challenge tables, Dwan is not having too bad a weekend, almost erasing his rumoured to be $4 million deficit for 2009, he has now brought it down to just $200,000
